The standard treatment for bacterial vaginosis is by using antibiotics

A five-day course of Metronidazole is effective in 85% of the cases.

Tinidazole 2gms orally once daily as a single dose.

Ampicillin or Cephalosporin is also effective against these organisms.

Tetracycline, Doxycycline or sulfafurazole are alternate antibiotics but they need to be taken for a longer period.

Tropical Clindamycin cream intravaginally is also known to be effective.

(Do not consume alcohol when using when using Metranidizole or tinidazole for 3 days after.)
Generally, male sex partners are not be treated, as this is not a sexually transmitted disease.
