Where to Go for Medical Tourism?

RSS Feeds   Text
The countries where medical tourism is being actively promoted include Greece, South Africa, Jordan, India, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore. India is a recent entrant into medical tourism. According to a study by McKinsey and the Confederation of
Indian Industry, medical tourism in India could become a $1 billion business by 2012. The report predicts that: "By 2012, if medical tourism were to reach 25 per cent of revenues of private up-market players, up to Rs 10,000 crore will be added to the revenues of these players". The Indian government predicts that India's $17-billion-a-year health-care industry could grow 13 per cent in each of the next six years, boosted by medical tourism, which industry watchers say is growing at 30 per cent annually.

Foreigners seeking Surgery in India are not only lured by the low costs of medical procedures in India, but also because they feel comfortable with such a vast English-speaking population, which diminishes the language barrier between the doctor and his patient.

This is an excellent question that I have seen many times, although this particular time it is 2 years old. Medical Tourism is a growing field, and as such new networks are constantly forming. There is one in particular that will market your facility for you, and has access to millions of patients. From what I can tell they don't charge the facility anything to be in their network. From my studies this is a great place to start.
