Almond oil is extracted from the fruit of the almond tree; the fruit is a drupe. Almond oil contains proteins and certain minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Several studies show that replacing animal fat with almond oil caused reductions in total cholesterol levels, low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and triglycerides. Instead, they added high-density lipoproteins (HDL) and the levels of good cholesterol remained relatively stable.

There is 120 calorie of fat present in 1 tablespoon of almond oil. They have high amounts of unsaturated fats, low amounts of saturated fats, and are cholesterol free. They contain 13.6 grams of total fat per 1 tablespoon of almond oil. According to the studies conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Nutrient Data Laboratory, almond oil contains phytosterols that help in inhibiting cholesterol absorption and may help lower blood cholesterol levels.

The Annual Review of Nutrition advises the consumption of 150 milligrams of phytosterols to get benefits. Almond oil contains high amounts of monounsaturated fats and some amounts of polyunsaturated fats and both of them are considered as 'good fats' and can help to reduce the risk of heart disease. Hence, it is advised to consume almond oil in moderation to enjoy the benefits and still not load up fats in the body.

Almond oil is rich in vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant and an essential fat-soluble vitamin. The recommended daily allowance is 15 milligrams per day for adults and children above age 14. They help in slowing down the early signs of aging and other skin problems such as pimples, acne, and pigmentation.

Almond oils are also rich in omega-6 fatty acids that are good for hair, skin as well as for the brain. Omega-6 fatty acids help in reducing hair-loss and strengthen the hair from its roots. It makes the hair look shiny and silky. Omega-6 fatty acids are essential for maintaining healthy brain tissue, prevents various brain conditions, and it is believed that it also makes the person smarter.

Several studies on almond oils show the benefits of almond oil on metabolic syndrome. Some researches call it a weapon against obesity and diabetes. According to the researchers at Missouri University of Science and Technology, almond oil’s potential lies in the ability to affect certain microorganisms living in our gut. They reported that adding sterculic acid to the diet of obese mice improved glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity in them.

In a study analysis posted in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, it was mentioned that almonds are an excellent source of bioavailable alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E), and the increase in their intake increases the resistance of LDL against oxidation. In addition to it, they have polyphenolic constituents that are recently found to have antioxidant actions.
