Color Therapy or Chromotherapy

Color Therapy or Chromotherapy

In color therapy light and color is used to to balance energy in the areas of our bodies that are lacking vibrance and this can be physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental.

Color therapy or Chromotherapy, also known as light therapy, colorology, or healing with color was practiced by ancient Egyptians as well as Native American Indians. Chromotherapy is applicable even today as an alternative treatment where the vibration and energy from each color is used to heal.

For instance:

  • The color red is used to improve blood circulation.
  • Yellow is used as a nerve stimulant and to cleanse the body.
  • Orange is used to boost energy levels and heal the lungs
  • Blue is used to relieve pain.
  • Indigo shades are used to relieve skin problems.

Though there has been a certain acceptance of these theories, still chromology is often not considered as a matured discipline and therefore chromotherapy, is still only considered as an alternative form of treatment .

Different gemstones radiate different colors and are worn on the body as rings or in lockets to give us different vibrations. Some experts strongly believe that some of these take away the negative energy from around us and others believe that they can have protective effects. In the end if you strongly believe in it, it may just work for you. So it is with lighting different colored lamps in your house or keeping a crystal or wearing different colors fabrics. It is the belief too that works in healing of the mind, body and the spirit

Whether colors impact our mind or not, they are unquestionably mind- blowing. We cannot imagine life without color. Indeed, this is a powerful approbation of its profound influence in our lives. Life is colorful- literally and figuratively!
