Accident Policy - Personal

Raheja QBE’s Personal Accident Insurance provides you and your family mitigation against the financial consequences of unforeseeable accidents.

What is Covered?

The Policy provides for defined benefits based on the nature of injury sustained by the insured person in an accident, during the Policy period.

Accidental Death

This benefit provides for payment of compensation on the Insured/Insured Person’s death caused by bodily injury arising out of accidental, violent, external and visible means, resulting in death within 12 (twelve) calendar months of occurrence of the accidental injury.

Permanent Total Disablement

This benefit provides for payment of compensation for bodily injury caused by accidental, violent, external and visible means, resulting in Permanent Total Disablement. Such permanent total disability should result from an accident, with no hopes of improvement, which totally and permanently disables and prevents you/your family member from attending to any business or occupation of any and every kind or if you/he/she has no business or occupation, from attending to your/his/her usual and normal duties.

Permanent Partial Disablement

This benefit provides for payment of compensation for bodily injury caused by accidental, violent, external and visible means, resulting in Permanent Partial Disablement within 12 (twelve) calendar months of occurrence of such injury.

Temporary Total Disablement

This benefit provides for payment of compensation for bodily injury resulting in Temporary Total Disablement.

Such injury should solely, directly and totally disable you/your family member and prevent you/him/her from attending to your/his/her business or occupation (of any and every kind) temporarily.

Compensation Benefit

The compensation benefits will depend upon the nature of injury and the Sum Insured under the Policy.

(a) For accidents resulting in Death or Permanent Total Disablement, we will provide compensation equivalent to the full Capital Sum Insured.

(b) For Permanent Partial Disablement, the compensation will depend on the nature of injury and corresponding percentage of Capital Sum Insured as detailed in the ‘Table of Benefit’ under the Policy document or as per the medical advice of our appointed Medical Practitioner.

(c) In respect of Temporary Total Disablement, we will provide compensation at 1% of Capital Sum Insured or Rs.5000/- whichever is less per week for a maximum period of 104 weeks.

What is Not Covered?

Exclusions under the policy include:

  • Self-injury, suicide, venereal disease or insanity
  • Under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs
  • Death due to pregnancy or childbirth
  • Breach of law with criminal intent
  • War and Nuclear group of perils
  • On duty with armed forces
  • Injury/death while participating in adventurous risks
  • Adventure Sports
  • Terrorism

What is Additionally Covered?

In addition to the compensation benefit stated above, the organization also undertakes to provide compensation in respect of the following:

  • Transportation cost for carriage of dead body to home including funeral charges;
  • Cost of clothing damaged in the Accident as described above and liability for disablement is admitted by us;
  • Ambulance charges for transportation of Insured person to Hospital following Accident;
  • Education Fund: in the event of death, permanent total disablement, i.e. 1 & 2 of Table of Benefit of Insured Person, we will approve education assistance of Rs.5000/- each for two dependent children; and
  • Loss of employment - in the event of accident leading to loss of employment as a consequence of Permanent Total Disability we will pay 2% of individual sum insured.

What can be Covered on Payment of Additional Premium?

The Policy can be extended to cover the following by payment of additional premium:

a) Medical Expenses Extension: It covers the expenses reasonably and necessarily incurred by the policyholder towards medical expenses, as a result of an accident resulting in bodily injury, death or disablement.

b) Hospital Confinement Allowance: It includes daily allowance of Rs.500/- per day to a maximum of 30 days if the policyholder or any of the Insured is hospitalized as a result of an accident resulting in bodily injury, death or disablement.
