2. How long will it be before a person gets completely cured of mono?
The sore throat is more intense during the first seven days of the disease and then gradually subsides. The swollen glands subside in about a months time. The person is advised rest and it is recommended that he stays away from contact sport and other intense activities in order not to rupture an enlarged spleen, if present.
3. How long will the EBV infection last?
EBV could exist in the saliva of the patients for as long as 18 months after the initial infection. When it lasts for more than six months it is considered to be a chronic condition.
