1. Which specialist doctors treat anal warts?

A specialist in skin and venereal diseases, surgeon or a gastroenterologist may treat anal warts.

2. Why do I need to treat anal warts?

If anal warts are not treated, they may increase in size and number and you could develop complications such as pain, bleeding and infection.

3. Can cancer develop from anal warts?

The type of HPV that causes anal warts usually does not cause cancer. However, the same patient may be infected with another HPV type that could cause cancer, hence the patient should be tested for cancer.
