Kevin Doorlag, owner of the dog, said that Zeus, who was 44 inches tall at the shoulder and 7 ft 4 inch on his hind legs, was entered in the Guinness World Records as the tallest living dog the made in 2012 edition, CBS News reported.

The Otsego resident said that Great Dane, who weighed 165 pounds and consumed a 30-pound bag of food every two weeks, was a local celebrity in the Kalamazoo area and acted as a therapy dog at local schools and hospitals.

Doorlag added that Zeus, who was almost 6 and passed away due to old age, was a "great dog" and would be missed by his whole family.
