Yoga is an ancient Indian practice or discipline that includes breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures. It is widely practiced across the globe for physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Tarun Vijay, an Indian parliamentarian, has urged fellow lawmakers from around the world to popularize yoga in their countries as an effective instrument of preventive healthcare.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had suggested declaring June 21 as 'International Day of Yoga' and as many as 170 countries at the United Nations have supported this call.
