Women Prefer to Use Social Networks to Stay Connected
Social networks are more popular among women as a way to keep in touch, while men seem to prefer the phone, a recent survey has revealed.
A new survey has found that women are more likely to use Facebook, Twitter and blogging to stay in touch with friends, family and coworkers, while men are more likely to use phones and voicemail to stay in the loop.

The study, commissioned by Internet telecommunications company Rebtel, looked at the online habits of a group of 2,361 U.S. adults.

It found that 68 percent of women use social media to stay in touch with their friends, compared to only 54 percent of men, while 60 percent of women use it to keep in touch with family, compared to only 42 percent of men.

Women are also more likely to use social networks to correspond with their colleagues - 34 percent compared to just 22 percent of men.

"Our findings show that men tend to lag behind women when it comes to communicating with others through social media, which debunks other recent studies that suggest that men are more savvy networkers between the sexes," the New York Daily News quoted Rebtel CEO Andreas Bernstrom as saying.
