A 23-year old British woman who went into a coma for over a month woke up to find that she had given birth to a daughter when unconscious but had no recollection of being pregnant.
Emma Mynors had developed pneumonia and suffered two strokes before slipping into coma. The medical staff became aware that she was in labor when nurses at Colchester General Hospital who were carrying routine checks saw a baby's head emerge.
Emma's daughter, Amy, was born prematurely at 29 weeks and weighed 3ls 5oz. However, when showed pictures of her daughter after coming out of coma, Emma had not recollection of even being pregnant.
"When I woke from my coma, the nurses kept showing me photographs of this baby girl, and I had no idea who she was. They told me she was my daughter and I didn't believe them. I had no recollection of being pregnant. I knew I had a husband and a son, but I had no idea about being pregnant again" she said.
