Wine can Uplift Your Spirit Right Till Your Bones
Many wine lovers will just love to hear this, a recent study has revealed that wine can actually strengthen the bones and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

A study of post menopausal twins, which delved into the link between nutrition and diet and its connection with osteoporosis, found that wine drinkers had a higher bone density in the spine and hip as compared to non-drinkers.

The benefits seemed much more than the gains derived from consumption of fruits and vegetables. This pointed out that wine seemed to improve bone density among drinkers.

The same effect was not found from other alcoholic drinks.

'Moderate intakes of alcohol from wine were associated with a higher bone mineral density and the consumption of a traditional 20th-century English diet was linked with a lower bone density," researchers said.

It is not yet clear how wine contributes to improvement of bone density. Tapping into previous research, scientists guess that this health benefit of wine could possibly be due to the presence of chemicals called polyphenols, found in the skin of grapes.
