Does power make people feel happy? Researchers from Israel, who conducted the study, found that being in a position of power made people happier and content as compared to the powerless lot.

During their study of more than 350 participants to ascertain the impact of power in various contexts -at work, with friends, or in romantic relationships, researchers found that feeling powerful in any context enhanced the levels of contentment.

The study revealed that powerful people felt 16 percent more satisfied with their lives than the least powerful people. The study also showed that powerful employees had a greater sense of satisfaction in their work than powerless co-workers.

Power did not have a significant role to play in romantic relationships or friendships as these bonds are were not based on hierarchy.

"By leading people to be true to their desires and inclinations -- to be authentic -- power leads individuals to experience greater happiness," the researchers concluded.
