A single freelance writer in China has set up a website to promote premarital virginity.

According to Chutian Times, prevalent premarital sex has driven Tu Shiyou from Wuhan in Hubei province to set up a website dedicated to promote virginity ahead of a wedding, China Daily reported.

While some are doubtful about Shiyou's intention of establishing such a website, some say they are respectful.

"Tu Shiyou has a good intention, but it's not practical," a college professor said.

38-year-old Shiyou has herself never been in a relationship.

After a friend of hers expressed disbelief that she was a virgin, the writer acquired proof from a hospital and released it on her micro blog account.
