Addictions catch u unaware and then stay with you for good. One such new addiction seen among college girls is dieting.

As per a new survey it has been found that 83 per cent of college girls go on diets to control their weight, regardless of whether they are normal weight, overweight or obese.

Brenda Malinauskas from East Carolina University, USA led the team of researchers, and the survey was conducted on 185 college girls who were asked about their weight perception, dieting practices and physical activity.

The findings were that 83 percent of the girls reported trying to control their weight or having tried to control their weight and 9 percent of college girls turn to smoking as a way to lose weight, and that 32 percent of them skip breakfast. Also only 19 percent of college girls exercise enough to promote weight loss.

Open access journal Nutrition Journal has the study for viewing.
