Gay Marriages May See The Light Of Day

by Medindia Content Team on Apr 1 2006 3:17 PM

A Pew Research Center poll has shown extremely optimistic trends in the reaction to same-sex marriages, portraying a significant decline in the opposition to such marriages across the country. Gay rights activists have expressed positivism over the decline in opposition to same-sex marriages, while also expressing that the acceptance levels would only spread, despite Massachusetts' highest court order prohibiting inter-state homosexual marriages.

Presently, there is a lot of anticipation regarding legalization of such marriages in Washington. If such marriages become legal in Washington, then it will be the second U.S. state to legalize gay marriage, at least among residents.

Brad Luna of gay rights group Human Rights Campaign said "Washington State’s Supreme Court right now, any day, is going to deliver their ruling on marriage, so it's something that we've been waiting for a while now to happen."
