Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Favours Herbal Farming
The Chief Minister of Bihar Mr. Nitish Kumar is all for a giving a boost to herbal plants. While his predecessor Rabri Devi used to cultivate potato, tomato and green vegetables at their official residence, he wants to develop the place as a resource centre for herbal farming.

Nitish Kumar comes from a family with ayurveda and herbal background. His father was a leading ayurvedic practitioner in his home district of Nalanda. Even today Nitish's elder brother practises ayurveda.

"I am keen to develop the land in my official residence as a herbal resource centre to help farmers," Nitish Kumar told IANS.

The chief minister said such a centre would boost herbal farming. It would also encourage cultivation of medicinal plants.

Nitish Kumar said the idea of setting up the centre came to his mind during a visit of agriculture scientists to his bungalow a few days ago.
