Arkansas Hospital Taken Over By CHS
The acquisition of Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City, Ark has been closed on by Brentwood-based Community Health Systems. The acute health care centre which is 118-bedded would be leased from its owner (St. Francis County, Ark.).

In addition, some other assets would be acquired from the former operator of the health care center (Memphis-based Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp.) The newly acquired hospital would be called as 'Forrest City Medical Center'.

'This acquisition typifies the implementation of our proven acquisition strategy - to acquire sole community providers in demographically appealing markets,' remarked Wayne T. Smith, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Community Health Systems.
