ICMR to Set up Laboratories to Combat Bird Flu
The Director General of The Indian Council of Medical Research has announced the installation of three US-funded bio-safety level laboratories by ICMR in Chennai , New Delhi, Kolkata and Pune to efficiently combat any avian flu outbreak

An international consultancy firm will be in charge of setting up the centers at costs beginning from Rs 15 crores to Rs 20 crores, with an action plan to make them operational in the current financial year. A centre of this type has already been operational in Bhopal.

The Pune centre is slated to be the largest of the four centers
