The paired donation consortium in Chicago is doing a good job to facilitate paired donor exchanges, and recent reports say that two couples have benefited after they registered with this organization.

A case of two couples, where the husbands could not receive the kidneys from their wives because of blood group mismatch, met at this organization that arranged to transplant the wives’ kidneys to each other’s husbands. This has indeed given the husband’s a new lease of life. The waiting period for a donated kidney in the Chicago area takes roughly five years.

As per the records, 80 donor-recipient pairs have registered with the Paired Donation Consortium in Chicago, Illinois, with a record of 12 kidney l swap surgeries to its credit

Minister Carl Chandler, a facilitator for the organization said "A black woman is donating to a Hispanic man and a Hispanic woman is donating to a black man and there's no fear or cause for concern. Too many people waiting for organs are afraid to go outside their communities because of prejudice. We hope that this will motivate people to realize there's no color issue here, just a sickness issue."
