Pain in the back? Try Acupressure

New Research seems to compliment Acupressure over physical therapy, to alleviate lower back pain. Scientists from the National Taiwan University have acclaimed Acupressure’s success with statistics – a remarkable 89% drop in disability, as compared to physical therapy with the effect lasting up to 6 months.

129 patients with chronic lower back pain were treated with six sessions of acupressure, and after the completion of treatment, recorded a definite lower disability score as compared to any form of physical therapy.

"This study shows that acupressure is more effective in alleviating low back pain than physical therapy in terms of pain scores, functional status, and disability," the scientists said.

This study on lower back pain is published in the British Medical Journal. Acupressure was also found to be useful to relieve pain at other locations in the body.
