New York recidents who have been reciving free condoms for nearly 9 months will soon be provided with specialised condom packs, incorporating the New York city logo as a promotional offer. More than 9 millions free condoms have been distributed since June, according to health officials.
The proposal was announced by the Health Department, New York city, just in time during Valentine's Day celebrations. It is expected that the offer would materialise in the next couple of months.The innovative effort is more making the package memorable and noticeable rather than branding, according to Sandra Mullin, spokeswoman, Health department. This would also help the health officials to monitor the effectivess of the condom distribution.
The new proposal however, would not be a part of the branding campaign supported by Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Sale of products that legally use the Police and Fire Department logos would ensure that the city recieves a loyalty.
