Kudos to scientists who have discovered low calorie potatoes, giving spuds, another potato variety, a run for its money! Vivaldi, the new age potato, signals the arrival of potatoes that significantly taste better with nearly half the calories of spuds. Talk of Health choices in ubiquitous potatoes!

Vivaldi was the result of a lot of hard work and research for nine long years. Allied laboratory services has tested this new variety of potatoes and reported that they contain nearly 36 % lower carbohydrate and 33 % less calories.

According to Sainsbury, which is currently selling these potatoes under the “Taste the difference range”, has said that Vivaldi could easily vie for the dieter’s delight position , nudging the spud away from its glory. The Vivaldi owes its birth to ‘Naturally Best” of Lincolnshire, and grown from a seed famous for its creamy taste. Vivaldi also has normal levels of vitamin C and other nutrients, making it a healthy choice.

Sainsbury's produce trading manager John Maylam said: "This great-tasting, versatile potato is the perfect solution for those of us who like to watch what we eat - and they taste just as good for those who don't “.
