Back injury cured by engineers
According to engineers at Cleavland University, people with back injury use the wrong muscles and thereby put themselves at risk of further problems. Back injury is a common problem. People who have had a back problem tend to find it recurs. Researchers at the Biodynamics Laboratory have found that this is because they tend to protect their injury by creating a big stress on their spine afterwards.

This study comparedhe movement of injured and uninjured people. The engineers were able to use a mathematical technique to analyse movements of the injured volunteers without having them do the full action.

They found that people with a back injury use the wrong muscles and create too much load on the spine, putting them at risk of further problems. Physical therapists will need to re-educate people in the use of the normal movements if they are to protect the spine. Losing weight can help because overweight causes more strain on the spine.
