Chandy Undergoes Surgery In Switzerland
Oommen Chandy, the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Kerala underwent a surgery on 28 January 2006 in Switzerland after injuring his hip after a fall. He was visiting Switzerland for attending the World Economic Forum (WEF), with the object of promoting his state as an investment destination. Chandy is reported to be recovering well after the surgery, even though he will have to use a walking stick for a couple of months. He appears to be keen on returning home at the earliest.

Officiating Chief Minister Vakkom Purushothaman also told reporters that Chandy did not want any minister to fly out to Davos to meet him. Chandy's daughter, Achu Oommen Chandy, and his private secretary, Dinesh Sharma, are with him. He arrived in Davos on 26 January and was to return on 31 January.
