Bharat Rao Is 'Inventor of the Year'

R Bharat Rao, an American scientist of Indian origin has been declared the 'Inventor of the Year' for having developed a new system which makes use of data for improving clinical decision making and patient care. Rao is the Senior Director of Engineering Research Development at Siemens Medical Solutions' Computer-aided Diagnosis and Therapy Group.

Rao is reported to have contributed towards developing the Reliable Extraction and Meaningful Inference from Nonstructured Data (REMIND), which is an automated analysis and data collection tool. Patient care plans can now be personalized as a result of this tool. Rao is an IIT graduate from Chennai.

REMIND contributes towards integrating medical information, patient data and current treatment guidelines. Clinicians will also be enabled to make informed treatment decisions using this tool. It can also be used for case management, treatment guidelines, and alerts.
