Chinese Health Minister Gao Qiang at the National Health Conference has urged the health care industry to concentrate more on providing service to the poor and needy instead of spending lot of funds on hospital infrastructure and expansion.

He has urged the hospital authorities not to be partial in offering health care to the rich. He has said that the Government would be freezing funds for hospital expansion, infrastructure development as it is only a luxurious waste which would not benefit the poor as the situation has turned in a way that the poor cannot afford drugs and treatment in hospitals as the hospitals are indiscriminately prescribing medicines and are charging high cost for unnecessary laboratory tests and operations. The minister has urged the hospital industry to act logically to provide better treatment to the poor and needy.
