Canadian Lung Cancer Study Lauded As Major Advance in Cancer Fight

The American Society of Clinical Oncology has chosen 11 research efforts as major advances in the fight against cancer for the year 2005. Prominent among them is the finding that Herceptin is effective in preventing the recurrence of HER-2-positive early-stage breast cancer.

A Canadian research detailing the fact that treatment of early-stage lung cancer is successful if chemotherapy is given right after surgery is also mentioned as a major advance this year.
