US FDA approved Aurobindo Pharma to produce generic AIDS drug

The US Food and Drug Association (FDA) has approved Aurobindo Pharma Limited to produce the generic version of oral Stavudine solution 1 mg/mL, which is used in children for control of HIV treatment. Zerit (Stavudine Oral solution) is produced commercially by Bristol-Myers Squibb which has the patent for the drug which is found to be very effective against HIV. Stavudine is a synthetic thymidine nucleoside analogue. The generic version approved for Aurobindo pharma manufacture could be given in HIV treatment to children’s from childhood to adolescent age. The drug Stavudine acts by inhibiting the cell division of the HIV by inhibiting its reverse transcriptase enzyme which is required for the virus replication. Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals is present in India which is involved in the manufacturing of generic and active pharmaceutical drugs.
