Bird flu may cause a blackout in New Zealand

by Medindia Content Team on Dec 15 2005 9:54 AM

Bird flu has created novel approaches by which the New Zealand government plans to contain it.

They are preparing the people and themselves for a pandemic strike of bird flu. It will be in multiple waves and will extend up to three to six months.

The government said that it does not have facilities to tackle such situations (pandemic). They are prepared and provide support in case of earthquakes and acute disasters.

But in this case people are not allowed to step outside their houses for a period of six months. The government by this way is trying to reduce people to people contact as it has been reported that the existing H5N1 strain of the virus may have undergone mutation. This mutated strain has the capacity to spread from one person to another whereas its prototype did not spread among humans.

To tackle the problem awareness among people should be created.

Various preparative measures, fast response and quick recovery alone will save the people from this pandemic.

There will be closing of work places and schools. Even the export and imports will be affected due to the pandemic. It would take a long time to get back to normalcy.

Various services like food industry, banking, law and order and health sector should plan in advance.

One very efficient way by which the industries also don’t suffer and the disease will also be contained and not spread among humans is to work from home.
,
We have to make use of the latest technology of telecommunication to fight the disease.
