by Medindia Content Team on Dec 6 2005 2:44 PM

Jennifer Bromley a breast cancer patient with Her-2/neu positive was helped by her Wangaratta community to raise fund for her treatment using Herceptin drug which costs her more than $70,000. The fund was raised by her friends from the local Wangaratta community which could help her to buy Herceptin drug for one year.

Her-2/neu positive patients are more resistant to chemotherapy and anti-estrogen therapy such as tamoxifen and they require treatment using Herceptin (monoclonal antibody). The Government has approved law for providing Her-2 positive patients for Herceptin drug in late stage breast cancer but not for early stage breast cancer pateints. Bromley would be starting her Herceptin drug from January next year and is very happy and thankful to her community people who has helped her by donating $70,000 money for her treatment.
