Men Use Their Brain Differently From Women

A research conducted by the University of Alberta has revealed that different parts of the human brain are utilized by men and women, while performing the same tasks. This goes to prove that the brains of men and women really do work differently. The volunteers for the study were called upon to perform simple motor tasks, visual spatial tasks, verbal tasks, and memory tasks, while the functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) technology was used to monitor their brain activity.

The study also revealed that there were some areas where there was uniformity in brain activity in the case of both men and women. This discovery has large implications for several clinical situations.

There are also psychological differences between the two sexes, as twice the number of women suffer from major depression when in comparison to men. There are also instances where different profiles and symptoms were displayed by men and women under similar conditions. A total of 33 right-handed volunteers were used in the tests. This points towards differences with regard to ‘hard wiring’ in the case of men and women where their brains are concerned. This information can be utilized to help patients at a later stage.
