Soyabean is the highest protein contributor in the plant kingdom among pulses. Besides providing the body with a good quality plant protein it is also known to have numerous other health benefits. It is nicknamed as the super food, shown to lower cholesterol, slow the development of diabetes, and improve overall health.

Sometime back it was supposed to be extra beneficial for women in the Post menopausal period but now men have a reason to cheer about!

Soy protein has been shown to reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

According to a recent meta-analysis conducted jointly by researchers from Washington University and The Solae Company, men who regularly consume soy protein-containing foods have a 30 percent lower chance of developing prostate cancer.

The researchers looked at eight studies examining the relationship between the consumption of soy protein foods and prostate cancer. The meta-analysis is supported by a cross-national review of mortality rates and nutritional data for 42 countries that found that populations with a higher level of soy consumption have a lower incidence of prostate cancer mortality.

This new finding will be helpful in avoidance of prostate cancer appearance in men. Therefore it calls for men to increase the consumption of soya protein in food and include products like tofu, tempeh, soya milk and other soya based products in the diet.
