The Texas Youth Commission’s (TYC) facilities continue to reel under allegations of ward neglect and abuse, after the Dallas Morning News unearthed sordid details about the agency.

Leaders of the state continue the investigations of sexual and physical abuse of the juvenile inmates, as well as gross neglect of their health.

Reports have shown that the inmates have had to wait up to even months before they were referred to specialists or required tests such as x-rays, blood tests etc., were carried out.

There has also been allegations of wrong prescriptions and loss of medical records and documents.

Accordingly, there are 2000 cases of medical mistreatments within the last 2 years.

The institutions overseeing the treatment of the inmates are the University of Texas Medical Branch and the Texas Tech Health Science Center.

Investigations are also being carried out on the charges of physical and sexual abuse as well as on the employees who did nothing to stop this.
