We have told for a long time now a lot of health experts that to stay well-hydrated one needs to drink a lot of water.

It has been advised we should drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day to make sure we are adequately hydrated. Researchers from Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Nebraska have now reported that drinking other beverages will also help us keep ourselves hydrated. A group of 27 male volunteers were either given plain water or other beverages like orange juice, coffee or cola drinks to fulfill their hydration needs. Urine analysis and body weight measurements revealed no significant differences between the two groups. It was thus concluded that when one has difficulty in getting access to plain water, one's hydration needs can be fulfilled by drinking other beverages.
