From 1 January to 31 January 2007, the Ministry of Health reported 789 suspected cases including 96 deaths (case-fatality rate, 12.2%) in the country.

Ouargaye district has an attack rate above the epidemic threshold and another three districts, Banfora, Batie and Sapouy are in the alert phase.
