Kiss – and Not Tell

Trevis Smith, celebrity football player, is in the dock.

The Canadian Football League linebacker and father of two, is being prosecuted for not disclosing the fact that he was infected with HIV while having sexual relationships with two women.

According to an agreed list of admissions filed with the court, Smith tested HIV positive and was informed about his infection on Nov. 26, 2003.

He was asked to inform his sexual partners about this and to use a condom during any form of sexual contact, by Public Health nurses.

One of the nurses Suzanne Nasewich was contacted by two women over different periods of time, who revealed that they were not told by the player that he was having the virus even when they asked him about it.

Mr. Smith, 30, is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault. They are linked to allegations of reckless sexual encounters while the football player was knowingly infected with HIV.
