Actor and governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has undergone surgery for his broken leg. Schwarzenegger broke his right femur while skiing in Sun Valley in Idaho Dec 23. The surgery took place three days later and doctors used screws and cables to fix together broken fragments of bone.
It is possible that the governor will attend his second inauguration ceremony next month on crutches, reports contactmusic.com.
Orthopaedic surgeon Kevin Ehrhart said: "He is now fully coherent, and I have cleared him to resume his duties as governor. I expect the governor to fully recover. The governor is not in a cast and will use crutches to walk while his leg heals."
Schwarzenegger has had a few bumps and bruises over the years, including two motorcycle accidents. In January a motorcycle accident caused him 15 stitches to his lip. In 1997 he underwent heart surgery.
