by Medindia Content Team on Nov 3 2006 12:05 PM

The initial batch of samples collected from the house of anthrax victim Pascal Norris has not tested positive for the disease, health officials report. The results of the second batch of tests are yet to arrive, which will rest the queries about the source of infection that lent a fatal blow to Pascal Norris. It is believed that Mr. Norris had undertaken drumming lessons at Smailholm before he fell sick.

Mr. Norris had died in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on the 9th of July barely two days after falling sick. After his death due to suspected anthrax, his house has been sealed by the health officials and the police. Adequate health information has been enabled by the agencies to the residents and owners of other properties. Further, they have been educated that contracting anthrax infection from the ‘feared’ African drums alone is highly unlikely as it is thought to be.

The public have been educated about prevention measures and health officials have been quick to check the spread of the disease.
