NHS Services in Cumbria comes under Criticism
Poor services are provided by doctors and dentists according to a report released today.

However the trust which runs Barrow's Furness General Hospital is rated as good for patient care.

The Healthcare Commission has roundly criticised the NHS services in Cumbria.

The new health check conducted by it is far more wide-ranging and tougher than the old hotel-style star ratings, where only the performance of NHS in relation to government targets was taken into consideration.

The Commission now scores trusts on many aspects of their performance such as the quality of the services they provide to patients, management of their finances and other resources, such as their property and staff.

Both the former Cumbria Ambulance Service and Morecambe Bay Primary Care Trust scored poorly for quality of service.
