Let the sleeping dog lie but not it’s droppings, seems to be the goal of Austrian activists, who are motivating residents to record all sightings of dog droppings, to build a veritable case for redressal. The data so gathered will then be compiled and organized to form a key agenda for the city officials to kick start strategies that can effectively deal with the menace.
The earlier initiative in May had seen activists garnering support by way of 157,000 signatures on a petition, urging the city officials to initiate clear-cut strategies to cleanup the city. Laws entailing dog owners to be responsible in clearing the mess of their respective pets was initiated, but despite this move, inaction prevailed.This time activists are fully prepared to tackle the lacunae in the system, using the data from the records of dog droppings, which will help get an idea of problem areas, owners and pets.
