Colas Are A Health Risk: Ramadoss
Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss has added a new twist to the cola row by claiming that colas are equally dangerous even without the added pesticides.

"All carbonated drinks like Pepsi and Coca Cola have high-risk factors as much as tobacco and a comprehensive policy on such drinks are needed," he said at the golden jubilee year celebrations of the cardio-thoracic department of Madras Medical College.

Ramadoss added that the issue of pesticide content in soft drinks was a short-term one and could be sorted out once the government chalked out a permitted level policy.

A notification has also been issued to packed food manufacturers to specify the level of nutrients in their food items, he said.

For once I request that Dr Ramdoss take immediate and effective action and ask the colas to leave the country. But this solves his fizzy poison issue, but not the one due to pesticide which today is like God omni-present and omni-potent (meaning poisonously so). So he needs to move against the pesticide manufacturers, users and sellers and start working on a long term policy to make our rural side safe and our water non-toxic. sridhar
