Hospitals To Get Extra Consultants To Eliminate A&E Crisis

by Medindia Content Team on Aug 17 2006 7:29 PM

The Health Service Executive in Ireland is all set to offer rewards for hospitals that deal effectively with accident and emergency overcrowding.

The Irish Examiner reports that hospitals may be offered additional consultants in order to help hospitals deal with the A&E crisis, where patients are made to wait for hours together in trolleys. But hospitals must ensure that A&E patients are not made to wait over 24 hours. Also they must see to it that more than three-quarters are not made to wait for more than six hours.

The HSE is to announce this offer as a part of a new incentive scheme later this week.
