The hospital authorities stated that N. Vasudevan, Professor of Cardio Thoracic Surgery, performed the surgery along with a surgical team, which included J. Sivakumar, T. Anantharamakrishnan, K. Mahadevan, K. Leo, Udhayanan and P. Balaraman, a post-graduate trainee.

The Dean further mentioned that depending on requirement of patients, a date would be fixed every month for taking up similar procedures in future.

It is not so much the Govt. hospital doing open heart surgery but a hospital in a perpheral city of India )not even a second tier city) performing such surgeries that is important in this case.
