The issue of delay in withdrawal of "user charges" at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was today brought to the notice of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) with a medicos' body seeking its intervention on the matter.
In a letter to NHRC Chairperson A S Anand, the Medicos Forum for Equal Opportunity, a body of pro-quota medicos, today said the governing body of AIIMS on July 5 last had decided to withdraw the "users charges" slapped on poor patients.However, the decision was yet to be implemented, the letter said.
When faculty members of the forum raised the matter before the administration, the authorities pleaded helplesness saying that the minutes of the meeting has not been received by them, the letter said.
The UPA government and the Health Ministry are equally "culpable" in this matter, the letter added.
