Twelve cases of Japanese Encephalitis have been found after 36 samples of blood serum of the suspected patients admitted in BRD Medical College Hospital here were tested, officials said today.
Of the 36 samples tested, 12 were tested positive for the Japanese Encephalitis while the rest were of viral Encephalitis, said A K Rathi, head of the Deptt Paediatrics of BRD Medical College here.Rathi said since April 1, 171 patients were admitted in BRD Medical College Hospital out which 90 were discharged after treatment while 31 are still being treated.
He said 24 patients of suspected brain fever died during the treatment since April 1, recent being a female patient who died on Sunday.
The testing kit for JE and other essential drugs have been made available to cope up with the disease, he said.
