People In Thailand Not Bothered About Bird Flu
Thai medical officials have reported that inhabitants of Phet where hundreds of poultry died last week are not bothered about bird flu since they had a feast on these birds.

Public health officials in the lower northern province of Phichit are trying to create awareness of bird flu after hundreds of chicken died mysteriously here. Dr. Prachak Wattanakun, a provincial health official announced after a visit to the area that people were disregarding the threat of bird flu.

"Samples of the dead poultry were sent for laboratory testing, but the results are not yet available," he added. The feast on the dead chicken went on even as the local officials warned the villagers not to handle meat with bare hands.

Thai News Agency reported that observers were concerned about possible bird flu in humans here.
