Depleting stock of antiretroviral drugs in Uganda raises concern

by Medindia Content Team on Jul 1 2006 10:42 AM

Uganda: Come August, and Uganda will have one more problem to surmount amidst a host of crisis health issues-that of the receding stock of free antiretroviral. Soon, Uganda will be left with zilch options to help its people who are in the grips of disease.

The stock is said to be fast depleting in national referral hospitals. Many distribution set ups will not have enough to tide over the next couple of months. This is surely a sad twist to Uganda’s AIDS campaign, and activists are extremely apprehensive of its fallout and the dire implication to lives.
