Rheumatoid Arthritis A Reason For Sexual Dysfunction

It is found that people suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis are also prone to have sexual problems. The results of the study were presented at the European league against rheumatism congress.

Rheumatoid arthritis occurs in elderly people. It is characterized by severe pain in the joint and inflammation of the joints. It is a chronic disease and causes long-term damage and eventually leads to complete immobility.

According to the study it was found that 31 % of the patients did not suffer from any negative consequences with respect to sexual activity. About 38 % said that it affected their sexual life but 21% said that they were the worst affected.

In conclusion the researcher said that this study is useful in understanding the ways in which other diseases play an important role in one's sexual activity and hence further research is needed to completely understand the effect of rheumatoid arthritis on sexual activity.
