TV Star to Moon Walk for Raising Funds to Support Breast Cancer Research
Breast cancer campaigners and fund raisers are taking part in the moon walk which will be held at Edinburgh. About 7999 people are participating in the walk along with the famous TV star Lorraine Kelly.

They are going topless wearing decorated bras, to try and raise one million pounds for breast cancer and the Maggie's Centre. They will start the walk at midnight and finish at seven on the day of the event.

Hence the name Moon Walk was given as it started in the night and ended in the morning. This walk came into being 10 years ago.

A group of 13 women walked the New York Marathon to raise money for breast cancer research.

In the year 1998, another team entered the London Marathon, but was disappointed as they were allocated only 25 places. The sponsor of the event was Playtex.

The walkers will either walk the 13.1 miles which is called the half moon, or the full moon which is about 26.2 miles.
